Update 1

5-15
well its been an interesting trip so far nothing i say can sum it up.

[ ^inside Detroit MacNemera Terminal ]

i've never felt such an odd mixture of feelings. going to airport was like both going to the dentist and xmas eve. the seat was very cramped and there were often people in line for the bathroom (right next to me). however there was a very nice chinese couple sitting next to me ^_^

[ ^my flight ]

right now i'm in my room. its extremely big for japan. it seriously is almost as big as my room in michigan and i always thought that room was big.

[ ^my room ]

i'm about ready to go to sleep actually, i have no idea how long it's been or how many days have past, but this is the first sleep since michigan. my house-mates seem nice, however they all (save one) could easily end up being party animals. but im not worried, now... i actually really hope to find some japanese people to become friends with, because my roommates aren't japanese and most of them don't speak any either. but i do have my our room! during this "day" if have hated everything, wanted to return, loved it, and been in sheer bliss. yes all of the extremes in one "day" jiyugaoka is so awesome! it looks JUST like an anime!

[ ^Jiyugoaka, my residence in Tokyo ]

i still don't even believe it. we went to a small grocery store, unbelievable, i've didn't what like 60% of the stuff was (and everyone was asking me!) i even did my first translation for one to one of the workers (a housemate wanted to ask for shrimp). oh and the doorways in my house i think were made for me, theyre like 5'9", perfect.

[ ^short doors ]

anyway it's 12:49 PM here (11:49AM detroit) and i gotta get up at 9 so, im done for now. there is SO much more to say. ja, itekimasu.

5-16
man the sun rises at like 4am here, so weird. i got like 4 hours of sleep but i feel pretty good. man its humid.

today is very humid but also nice and sunny. yesterday we went to various places all around tokyo. first on our way to tokyo we took a walk thru jiyugoak (the city im living in).

[ ^tuj dorms next to the green house ]

[ gaijin invasion in jiyugaoka ]

[ these yellow things are everywhere you go, perhaps to help the blind? ]

[ jiyugaoka station, the guy in front is kouta one of the dorm managers ]

[ near jiyugaoka station ]

[ inside jiyugaoka station ]

[ ^on the train to shibuya ]

then we went to shibuya (hip happening part of tokyo).

[ ^shibuya station ]

[ look familiar? this sign is shown in lost in translation ]

i seriously dont have any good words to describe things. it's totally amazing, ive never seen anything like tokyo in my life. its amazing. i still dont believe im actually here. i have about 400 photos so far and its only been three days. i have many more shibuya pics to put up. but for now this is all i have time for. there are so many stories to tell, hopefully i can post at least some. ja, matta ne.
