Update 7 well i cant believe it but tomorrow it will be four weeks since i left. its totally insane, my trip is almost half over. it feels like i just got here. well i have a feeling the real stuff has yet to happen. last night i went to the japanese class again, then after some of us went out for coffee. that was the first time i was completely in a english-free environment and man it was crazy. the conversation goes so fast, and im still stuck on the first word! but it was cool, we managed to discuss anime even though i didnt say much. turns out two of the teachers from the class, one of them being chikage's friend echan, really likes anime. they actually knew all about evangelion! anyway i felt really stupid but i still had a good time.
[ a few days ago, mike and i went to the ginza to go to the sony building but it was closed when we got there. so we decided to go see a movie but the last showing were at 7:30, isn't that weird ]
[ the sony building, they have new products/concept products yet to be released to look at and trial use ]
[ this is also in the ginza, it's a "koban" which is basically a small police station. they have them scattered about, they will give you directions and help you if need something. i think detroit definetly needs some of these ]
[ this a cool little resturant we went to. i had a bunch of little corridors and fake windows that glowed orange. it was great. ]
[ this what we ordered at that place ]
[ mike and i went back to the mori building to go to the top ]
[ this is western tokyo, the cluster of skyscrappers is shinjuku ]
[ here's another view, this is eastern tokyo. the red tower is "tokyo tower" a definite landmark of tokyo ]
[ tokyo tower at night, kirei ne! ]
[ here it is! for all of you who need proof of my being in japan. of course im keeping it real for d-town even in japan. ]
[ this is uni qlo, a nice and cheap clothing store. i bought a kaban (bag/purse) here for only $10 ]
[ this is "ameyoko" in ueno, this street is very old and goes back to before the war when it used to be a black market. i went here with mike, allen (my other housemate, and michi (a girl from class). it was interesting, it had a bazaar feel to it. ]
[ ameyoko, many of the shops were actually under the train tracks. this is actually common is japan, sometimes there entire stores under the train tracks. ]
[ this train is crowded but still not the worst i've seen it. ] |
